Benjamin "Benny" Adams, 68 - JERSEY CITY, NJ (Ret. Detective- J.C.P.D) passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012, at Cusack Care Center, after an extended illness. Mr. Adams served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from October 18, 1962 - October 17, 1965 where he received several commendations. He joined the Jersey City Police Department on April 29, 1968 and rose in the ranks to Detective, retiring July 1, 1994. During his service at the JCPD, he received four commendations and one honorable mention. He was also a member and past president of IMPAC (Inter-Departmental Minority Police Action Council). Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Joanne Adams; their son, Linwood Adams and grandson, Marquis Boyd, four brothers, Walter (Sarasota, FL), Joe Louis, Richard, and Homer all of Jersey City; four sisters, Ida Hill (Rochester, NY), Esther Whipple, Tillie Mahone, Patricia and Joy all of Jersey City, NJ; Sisters-in-law, Bert, Betty and Vivian; one surviving uncle and aunt James and Connie Smith.
