Clarena Steed (91) went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 30, 2021. Clarena was born and raised in Henderson, North Carolina where she attended elementary and high school. Clarena married her childhood sweetheart, Chester Steed, and they moved to Jersey City in 1952. God blessed them with six children: three sons and three daughters: Clarena Jones, Veronica (deceased), Chester Jr., Tyrone (Linda), Michael, and Debra. She is Grandma to many grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren. Nothing gave Clarena more joy than serving God, being a wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a Church Mother and Deaconess at Monumental Baptist Church where she served and held office as Chaplain, President, and Secretary. Clarena was a Grandma in the Hudson County Foster Grandparents Program. Clarena is predeceased by her beloved husband, Chester, and daughter, Veronica. She leaves to cherish her memory a host of loving relatives and friends. Even during times of social distancing, anyone who has suffered a loss deserves love and support more than ever before.
