David Lawrence Broughton
was the last son born to Lillie Mae and Samuel Broughton on May 9, 1962. David grew up on Grant Avenue where the highlight of his childhood was playing with his siblings and friends in the courtyard of PS 29 school, playing tops, kickball, riding bikes and on those hot days, playing in the fire hydrants. David attended elementary school at PS. 29 and PS. 41. He went on to St. Mary High School where he played basketball. After graduating High School, David attended Computer Learning Center Paramus NJ. David was employed at the United States Postal Service, K-Mart Corporation in North Bergen, Merrill Lynch in New York, Hudson County Corrections Youth House and the Urban League of Hudson County. David was always very low keyed and easygoing. He loved a good joke and reminiscing about the silly things we use to laugh about back in the day. He enjoyed the company of good people, good food, good music and having a good time. David loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews and always greeted them with a smile. He was a great son, brother, uncle, nephew, neighbor, and friend. David was an avid NY Knicks, NY Giants and NY Yankees fan and listened to his favorite podcast sport shows religiously. David loved life and he will be missed. David is predeceased by his Mother Lillie Mae, and his Brothers Samuel Jr. and Vincent Broughton. He leaves to mourn his dear Father, Samuel, his Sister and Brother-in-Law, Kimberley and Baruti Kafele, his Nephews and Nieces, Sarien Broughton, Aja and Clifford Banks, Baruti Kafele Jr., Jabari Kafele, Kibriya Kafele, Nazir Baker and Summer Banks. Two special God-sisters, Tangee Matthews and Jessica Baggett. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends; and two best friends, Nate Addison and Mike McKenzie.
