Leola Dixon departed on Tuesday April 21, 2009 at Christ Hospital. She was the "Mother of the Church" at Heavenly Temple C.O.G.I.C. and was "Mother of the Church" at New Hope Baptist Church, Newark, NJ. She was an Eastern Star and member of the NAACP. She was on the Advisory Board at the Bayonne Youth Center. She was the devoted mother of Edward L., Troy E., Francis J. and Charles A. Dixon and Margaret A. Lewis. She was the loving grandmother and great-grandmother to a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mother-in-law of JoAnn and Brenda Dixon and James Lewis.
