Mae Eliza Thompson was born on January 14, 1942 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Matthew and Annie Mae (Middleton) Bowman. She attended the local public schools before moving north to New Jersey. On October 24, 1964, she married Rev. Daniel Thompson, Sr. (pre-deceased her in 1990) with whom she shared 26 years of covenantal marriage and five children- Lorraine, Sylvia Ann, Priscilla, Jennifer Olivia, and Daniel, jr. Mae Eliza loved the lord and served him in several ministries in the Jersey City, NJ area: Heavenly temple C.O.G.I.C., Clair Memorial United Methodist Church, and Monumental Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Senior Usher Board and the Mountain Movers prayer group for a number of years. Eliza worked for several companies: Central Laundry; Greenville Hospital; Efka Plastics; Visiting Homemaker of Hudson County; Isotoner; and at private day cares as an aide where she spread her love and compassion to children. She leaves a legacy of hope in her five children and other family: two grandchildren- Curtis Anthony Thompson and Ivona Charlene Thompson; one uncle- Johnny Middleton (South Carolina); two sisters - Mary Hall and Rosalee Green; four Brothers - Nathan and Henry Bowman, Willie (Edward) Middleton, and Matthew Bowman; five sisters in law- Margaret Middleton, Carrie, Wihelmina, and Janice Bowman, and Betty Jo Thompson; two brothers in law- Pastor Richard Green and Isaiah Thompson (SC); two sons in law- Bishop Thomas Robinson and Deacon Derek A, Jones; special cousins- Mattie Davis- Greene, Nancy Mae Jackson, and Ernestine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, friends, and Christian Sisters and Brothers. .
