Obituary

Grace, Faith, Love, Beauty and Style. These five words only begin to describe our Margaret - beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. At 81 years of age and after many phenomenal years spent with family and friends, God decided to call her home on October 23, 2014. With grateful spirits and saddened hearts, we celebrate the life of Margaret Hill. Margaret was born on August 23, 1933 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. The daughter of Albert and Fannie Johnson, Margaret was the middle child of eleven brothers and sisters. She started her journey with Jesus Christ at an early age, as a member of Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was educated in Prince Edward County Public School system. After the passing of her father, Margaret's mother moved the family to Hoboken, New Jersey. Eventually Margaret moved to New York City, where she worked for Verizon in Manhattan. It was also in New York that she took on her most treasured role, as guardian for her great nephew Damien. Later in life she met and fell in love with Felton Hill, whom she married and shared many great years. She, Felton and Damien moved to Jersey City in the 1980s, and she resided there until her passing. Her life was filled with joy, a love for style and impeccable dress, her beautiful grandchildren, and her constant communication with family and friends. Margaret was a former member of Bethesda Baptist Church, and current member of Salem Baptist Church, both in Jersey City. She will be forever missed. She is predeceased by her parents, Fannie and Albert, her husband, Felton, eleven siblings, Eugene, Mary, Henry, Bernice, Lillian, Percy, Larry, Calvin (Billy), Odessa, Jeanette, and Kemper David (Hatchet). Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her son, Damien, two grandsons, Pharaoh and Damien Jr., three step children Denise Bennett, Kelly and Derrick Hill, one brother in law, Darrell Hill, three sisters-in-law, Verline Johnson, Shirley and Debra Hill, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
