Robert Lee Whitehead quietly slipped into Gods eternal rest on Saturday, June 24th, 2017. Born in Charles City, Virginia, Robert has been a longtime resident of Jersey City, NJ, for 68 years until his passing. A United States Army Veteran, Robert served in World War II & the Korean War, receiving an Honorable Discharge for both tours of service. Robert affectionately known as "Bob" to most, retired from Anchor Motor Freight where he delivered new cars to dealerships from the midwest to various states in the northeast. He has always been very devoted to his faith throughout his life, and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. In retirement, Bob loved to read, listen to music, work on cars & home projects, and he especially enjoyed time with his family & close friends. Robert is predeceased by his wife Edna, daughter Donna and son Barry (Andrea). He is survived by his granddaughter/primary caregiver Rene Melendez (Robert), son Glenn Whitehead (Dawn); granddaughters Ashley & Desire Whitehead and Brianna Logan; grandsons Trevor & Spencer Whitehead; great-grandsons Donovan Ahjuder and Christian & Jason Melendez; his sisters Arnella Christian & Angie Parker; and his brother Edward Whitehead.
