Obituary

Pastor Thomas L. Williams, son of the late James and Belle Williams, was born on April 22, 1942 in Gifford, South Carolina. God called his faithful servant to his heavenly home on Thursday April 22, 2010, the same day as his "Birthday". Pastor Williams attended school in Gifford, South Carolina. In 1959 Pastor Williams, moved to Jersey City from South Carolina. In 1961 he united in Holy Matrimony with the Late, Mary A. Williams and from this union they were blessed with seven children, five boys and two daughters. He was a Jersey City resident for 50 years and a prominent salon owner for over 40 years. As an entrepreneur, Pastor Williams founded, Style II Unisex, Majestic Hair Salon and High Power of God Ministries. He was known in the community for his signatures hairstyles, hair shows, meticulous attire, singing, teaching and his love for God. In 1970, Pastor Williams became a member of St John's Baptist and sang with the male chorus. In 1984 he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was member of Victory Temple Word Ministry, under Apostle Ernest Leonard. In 1991 he was licensed as a minister. In 1998 he received his BS in Christian Education from the School of Ministry, in Newark NJ. On September 19, 1999, Pastor Thomas L. Williams and Prophetess Mary A. Williams were ordained as Pastor and Co-Pastor of the High Power of God Ministries, by Rev. Kenneth Young of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. Pastor Williams' motto was, "There is no Power Higher than the Power of God". Pastor Williams along with Pastor Rich & the High Power of God Family recorded two CDs along, "I'll Rise Again" and "Think About It". Pastor Williams and Prophetess Williams worked together in ministry for over 28 years, from the House of Prayer to the Church. Pastor Williams will be missed but the legacy of their vision will continue on. He leaves precious memories for his five sons, Eric, Michael (Gail), Clarence (Celeste, fiancée), Antoine(Ernestine), Apollo, and two daughters Stacey Williams-Bailey (Dion), Sharon Booker-Dawson (Ben); two sisters Carrie Carr, Mary Famularo; seven predeceased siblings; 8 sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, & church family.
