Wesley "Harvey" Sumpter, 77, was called home to eternal rest on Tuesday September 1st, 2009. Born on December 9th, 1931 in St. Stephens, SC to the union of Lula and Charles Sumpter, he grew up and was educated in St. Stephens, SC. Wesley married Lydia Seaward in 1953. The family lived in Detroit from 1953-1963. In 1963, the family moved to Jersey City where he spent the next 46 years of his life. Wesley retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1999. He will be missed dearly by his family and loved ones and always remembered for his giving and loving ways. Wesley is survived by his wife Lydia; children Brendolyn, Ida, Wesley, Jr., Carolyn, Reginald, LaTrayer, Robert and Rudeaner; grandchildren Rhonda, Shari, Andrew, Wesley III, Robert, Jr., Exzabian, Zuri, Daren, Justin, Steavin, Darrius, Regine, Janee, Sterling and Angel; siblings Leola, Edward, Hezekiah, and Earlene; sons and daughters in-laws, sisters and brothers in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter Jennifer; and siblings Rufus, Albertha, Ethel, Celia and David.
