Obituary

With Grace, Willie Mae Smith departed this world on Friday December 17th 2010. Willie Mae was born June 26th, 1928 in Hoopersville, Alabama. Willie Mae moved to Jersey City in 1962 where she worked in the neighborhood Cleaner's. Being southern reared and raised in the church helped to mold her spirit and personality to stay close to God. She visited many churches upon her arrival in Jersey City, but became a member of the St. John's Baptist Church in the 1970s, where she has resided for the last four decades. She worked in the church; serving on the Usher Board, sang in the Senior Choir, was a part of the Missionary, including the New Hope Association of Newark. In recent years, she contributed time on Saturday's in church serving those of need. As Honored mother, she leaves to mourn her surviving four children; Charles Kidd, Cedric Smith, George Smith Jr., and Steven Smith. Son in law, Isaac Ford, and Wilbert Richardson. Daughter in law Charlette Smith. Loving grandmother of 18. Beloved gr. grandmother of 20. Treasured sister in law of Sally Smith-Mosley and brother in law Sammy Smith. Ten nieces and nephews, other surviving relatives four generations over, from Birmingham and Detroit. Adorned close friends and her cherished church family.
