Yvonne F
Young
d. Dec 10, 2024
On Wednesday December 10 , 2024, Yvonne F. Young of Jersey City, New Jersey was called
home from this life to her eternal resting place to be with the Lord.
Affectionately known as Yvonne, Mrs. Young or Y.Y was born in Covington Virginia on October
6, 1937, to Edward and Beatrice Waldron who both proceeded her in death. At a very young
age Yvonne's gift of singing was nurtured. She sang in her church choir and traveled across the
state of Virginia to sing as a youth and throughout her young adult years.
Yvonne was the second oldest of eight siblings all who proceeded her in death. Alphonso
Waldron, Gilbert Waldron, Thomas Waldron, Nathaniel Waldron, Delano Waldron, Bernice
Dooley and Lewis (Sonny) Waldron.
Yvonne completed her undergraduate education at Virginia Union University. Upon completing
Virginia Union, she moved to Jersey City to attend Christ Hospitals Nursing Program. Later in
her career Yvonne obtained her BSN from Jersey City State College in nursing while working
full-time and raising her family. She continued her career in various leadership positions before
her retirement in 2002 from Greenville Hospital. Yvonne was a devoted passionate nurse for
over fifty years when she retired.
Yvonne and Robert Young Jr (proceeded in death) married after a very brief courtship July
1962. From that union came three children: Robyn, Guy, and Dana. They were married for 35
years. Yvonne was a loving devoted mother who loved her children in a deep unconditional
selfless way. Always providing love, support, and guidance. She always provided a source of
strength for her children. She without compromise instilled in her children the importance of
God, faith, integrity, education, and compassion.
Yvonne, loved to travel, gardening, and helping others. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy every
day, and loved watching Precious Memories every Saturday. She was authentic, empathetic,
and very strong. When she spoke, it came with wisdom, from love, even toned and she only
had to say it once. Family was very important to her.
Yvonne was a dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church for over 61-years. She loved the
lord and her passion for singing blessed so many. She sang with such an anointing in the
church choir and would also bless the church with songs of praise from the church pew. In
addition to singing in the church choir, she also served on the church counsel.
Lastly, Yvonne is survived by her loving children: one daughter Robyn Phillips (Dwayne) of St
Johns Florida; two sons Guy Young of Jersey City, New Jersey, and Dana Young ( Dinah) of Irvington, New Jersey. Five grandchildren whom she loved dearly; Lauren-Ashley, Alexis, Deion, Da'Neja, Aniyah and one great-granddaughter Imani; a host of
nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, and beloved Trinity Lutheran Church family.
